How to set up your eSIM
It takes about two minutes. Install it at home, on Wi-Fi, before you fly — then switch it on when you land.
Before you start
- Your phone supports eSIM and is unlocked — dial *#06#; an EID number confirms it.
- You are on Wi-Fi while installing.
- An eSIM can normally be installed only once — do not delete it until your trip is over.
- Keep your normal SIM in the phone for calls and texts; the travel eSIM is data-only.
If you cannot scan the QR code
Every phone can install an eSIM by entering its SM-DP+ address and activation code by hand — both are on your order page, formatted as LPA:1lt;address>lt;code>.
Common problems
- "Unable to add cellular plan" / "Invalid QR code"
- Almost always one of three things: you are not on Wi-Fi, the QR has already been installed on another phone, or the phone is carrier-locked. Dial *#06# — if you see an EID number, the phone supports eSIM and is unlocked.
- Installed fine, but no service after landing
- Turn Data Roaming ON for the travel line, then toggle Airplane mode. If it still shows no service after a few minutes, select the network by hand: Settings › Cellular › Network Selection, turn off Automatic, and pick a local network from the list.
- It says connected, but nothing loads
- Your phone is probably still routing data through your home SIM. Set mobile data to the travel line, and on iPhone turn off "Allow Cellular Data Switching".
- I deleted the eSIM by mistake
- An eSIM profile can normally only be installed once, so the original QR will not work again. Get in touch with your order number and it can be sorted out.
- Can I use my normal number while travelling?
- Yes. Calls and texts keep working on your home line as long as it stays in the phone. Keep its data roaming switched off so it is not charged for it.
